Summer In The Humber Valley
Come explore the wonders of Newfoundland and Labrador as you wander your way though the many adventures available to everyone. Whether you enjoy time in nature or with friends, there is something for everyone nearby.

If you enjoy golf, then book your tee time at the Humber River Golf Club (Deer Lake), the world-class River Course (in the Humber Valley Resort), the Blomidon Golf Course in Corner Brook; or, try your luck catching a trophy salmon in the renowned Humber River, while kayaks, boats and canoes occasionally glide by.

If you enjoy walking and hiking, then explore the forests of Sir Richard Squires Memorial Park, Deer Lake Municipal Park, or the world-famous Gros Morne National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, which has trails for all levels of experience, will take you through the history of geology and will leave you breathless.

Driving north along the Viking Trail may bring a close-up view of moose, caribou or cases even black bear. The region is also a bird watching paradise. In spring and early summer you may even find icebergs.

Interested in a different type of wildlife? Then you should visit the Newfoundland Insectarium for the chance to get up close and personal with insects of all sorts. This is a place that kids of all ages love.

Deer Lake is not all about nature and animals though. This area also boasts some of the best theatre festivals, crafts, and dining experiences available anywhere.

Visit the Roy Whelan Heritage Museum to learn more about early history of the town, or take advantage of the Hodder Memorial Recreation Complex, which has a swimming pool and a bowling alley.

During the summer months, make sure you take time to participate in the Humber Valley Strawberry Festival for your fill of strawberry shortcake, and relax while enjoying the festivities of the Gros Morne Theatre Festival.

For the sports enthusiast, the Corner Brook Triathlon is an annual highlight in the athletic calendar.
